Great “Quote of the Day”

Posted by Sue in Inspirational thoughts, Oprah

I recently subscribed to daily email updates from the Oprah Magazine website.  So far it hasn’t “wow”ed me as much as I had hoped.  But today’s “O’s Quote of the Day” really spoke to my soul and to some things that are going on in my life right now, so I wanted to share it!

Christopher Reeve said:

“We can either watch life from the sidelines, or actively participate… Either we let self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy prevent us from realizing our potential, or embrace the fact that when we turn our attention away from ourselves, our potential is limitless.”

Without doing too much self-disclosure here, I can say that focusing our attention on ourselves definitely severely limits our potential and our ability to participate passionately in life - ours and others’.

This is one of those quotes that deserves to be written on an index card and reflected on daily!

A Right Brain vs. Left Brain World

Posted by Sue in Oprah, Remarkable Women, Videos, World Peace

I watched the most incredible video today by a remarkable woman, who was featured on Oprah, and you can watch her story here.  Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions — motion, speech, self-awareness –- shut down one by one.  She talks about her stroke and recovery in a very moving way and makes a plea for the people of the world to start honoring their “right-brain” selves as a way to help bring about world peace.  Please take a few minutes to hear her powerful message and let me know your thoughts and responses.
